The Too Tall String BandBruce Lawson, Rod Driscoll & Hap Wheeler Celtic, Adirondack & even some Country!
The band celebrated its 20th year of entertaining audiences in 2004 and is looking forward to another summer and fall of humor and music in 2009. Over the past year the band has broadened its performances to include more Celtic & English pub tunes which encourages the audience to become part of the music, just like in a traditional pub. There's something for every taste as Too Tall shows its versatility and wide musical influences by doing everything from Celtic songs and fiddle tunes to traditional Adirondack tunes & stories to "roots" country music and even a little bluegrass. This summer, Steve Iachetta A.K.A.: "Shaker Fiddle" will be joining us for most of our performances. Steve is well known for his unique playing style blending celtic, old time and Appalachian folk fiddling along with the occasional frailing banjo or tenor guitar tune.
The band has been featured all across the North Country and Vermont. Too Tall first performed at the inaugural Watertown Goes Green Irish festival in 1984 and has been a headliner there ever since. The string band has been featured at: the Lake Placid Goodwill Winter Games, the Adirondack Folk Festival, Concerts on the Bluff, the Plattsburgh Mayor’s Cup Celebration, the Battle of Plattsburgh Celebration, Malone Concerts On the Green, Ellenbugh Town Hall Concerts, Peru Gazebo Concerts and has enjoyed performing for many other audiences in the Adirondacks, the Champlain Valley and the Green Mountains. This year "Too Tall" will be featured at the Saranac Lake First Night New Years Eve Celebration.Another treat for audiences is when the band performs with the North Country Cloggers dance group for some good old time Appalachian stompin' to traditional fiddle tunes.
We look forward to seeing you at the next Too Tall String Band performance.
The Band has two recordings currently available: "Goin Home" (1993) and "Live?" (2002). The band is working on having another live CD out by this summer.
